Please join us for the 2022 West Federation CHRIE Conference on February 10-12, 2022 sponsored by the Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Administration at California State University, Sacramento. The theme of this year’s conference is “Game on, 2022: The Future is Bright”. This regional conference will offer a diverse array of opportunities, for both WFCHRIE members and non-members, as it will focus on a broad range of topics related to education, industry, and research in hospitality and tourism.

California State University, Sacramento’s Department of Recreation, Parks, and Tourism Administration (RPTA) prepares the next generation of leaders to respond to 21st century opportunities and challenges in their respective communities of practice. As Sacramento State, we are proud to be recognized as one of the most diverse, transformative, and community-engaged universities nationwide. The department of RPTA is the oldest nationally accredited program of Recreation Administration in the California State University system and provides students with broad-based curricular that include both theoretical in-class coursework and practical field experience. Starting in Fall 2020, the Hospitality and Tourism Management (HTM) program became a stand-alone major with two other majors in Recreation Administration, and Recreational Therapy.
Known as the capital of California, Sacramento is one of the most historic and fastest-growing major cities on the West Coast. Located at the confluence of the Sacramento and American Rivers in Northern California's Sacramento Valley and surrounded by world-famous wine region, the city offers unique travel experiences which combine “old and new” and “farm to fork” through variety of attractions and activities such as Old Sacramento State Historic Park, California State Capitol Museum, California State Railroad Museum, Crocker Art Museum, city cruise, rafting and Farm-to-Fork Festival. San Francisco and Lake Tahoe are just two hours away. The HTM program works closely together with the regional tourism board and industry associations, and provides students with an unrivaled opportunity to learn and work in the industry’s leading market.

West Federation CHRIE is pleased to call for the nomination for the Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award. This award recognizes significant achievements of individuals in developing a diverse and inclusive environment throughout the hospitality and tourism education, academia, industry, and/or community. The Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion Award is sponsored by California State University, Sacramento, and will be presented at 2022 Virtual WF CHRIE Conference, February 10-12, 2022. In addition, the awardee will be invited to the Diversity Panel Session as a panelist at the conference. The deadline for nomination packets is December 12 by 11:59pm (PST).

Research Hackathon
WF CHRIE is excited to invite faculty and Ph.D. students (ABD required) to participate in the 2022 Research Hackathon. Collaborating with leading hospitality journals, we invite participants across two tracks: educational research (sponsored by JHTE) and scientific research (sponsored by JHTR).
